Weaves are hair extensions that exists for a number of different hair types. According to Allure, the most popular types of hair extensions are fusion, tape-in, and sew-in weaves.
Techniques for applying hair extensions vary. Fusion extensions use keratin-tipped strands that are bonded to the hair using heat. Tape-in extensions use double-sided tape to attach wefts of hair to small sections of hair. Sew-in weaves require the natural hair to be braided close to the scalp, and then wefts of hair are sewn into the braid using thread. According to Allure, sew-in weaves are best suited for those with coarsely textured and curly hair.
