Weed socks are socks that depict or advocate for the recreational use of marijuana, often by depicting marijuana plants on the socks. They are fashionable on some college campuses.
In 2013, a minor controversy arose when American rapper Wiz Khalifa made public a photo of his baby son, who was 2 months old at the time, wearing baby weed socks. Khalifa also boasted about his own use of the socks. Some observers, including talk show host Wendy Williams, expressed their distaste with a newborn being used to promote marijuana use. Public response to the Instagrammed photos of the baby weed socks was mixed.
