It is possible to spot a fake Coach purse by examining the stitching, by the creed inside the bag and the seams on the exterior. Coach bags may not contain perfect stitching, as many older bags were stitched by hand, but there should be few mismatches and equal spacing.
The creed inside the bag should indicate it was made in New York for older bags, in the United States for pre-2002 bags and various other countries thereafter. No Coach bags have ever been made in Korea, as of 2015. The wording of the creed may be a bit askew but should be evenly spaced and not contain any misspellings.
There may or may not be a model number beneath the creed. The number was hand stamped and randomly assigned for early bags, so it may contain an irregularity in genuine bags. The fabric on the exterior of a genuine Coach bag should match up perfectly at the seams, and there should be no misaligned patterns or letters.
