Glycerin can be used by itself as a leave-in conditioner, as a deep conditioning treatment or it can also combined with other styling products for maximum moisture and protection from the elements. Conditions that are extremely dry are not conducive to using glycerin as a hair conditioner. It works best in a slightly damp environment.
When used as a leave-in conditioner, glycerin is applied to damp or dry hair in a steamy bathroom. The steam helps the glycerin obtain moisture for the hair. Only a small amount is needed and using too much can make the hair sticky.
Glycerin may also be applied to hair, in conjunction or in place of hair conditioner. It is left on the hair for a few minutes and then completely rinsed out.
