To get the appearance of fuller lips, exfoliate, use an exaggerated line of lip liner, use gloss and avoid dark colors. It is also possible to choose to have a medical procedure done for a longer, more permanent effect.
To get fuller lips without visiting a medical professional, one simply needs a few beauty tools. Nude or neutral lip liner, a neutral lipstick and clear gloss are good basics to have on hand.
Step 1: Exfoliate the lips
Color needs a smooth surface to adhere to. Prior to using any makeup on the lips, use a lip scrub to remove any dead or flaky skin.
Step 2: Use lip liner
Use a nude or neutral color of lip liner to line just outside the natural lip line. Also, instead of following the natural curve of the Cupid's bow on the top lip, draw a line straight across from point to point. Then fill in the space with the liner.
Step 3: Add some color
Fill in the lips with the nude lip liner, and then add color with a neutral or light shade of lipstick. Avoid dark colors as they tend to flatten the appearance of the lips.
Step 4: Add some shine
For even more dimension, use a clear lip gloss to put a smudge in the middle of both the upper and lower lips. It helps to create the illusion of fullness by reflecting the light.
