A wavy hairstyles works best if your hair is medium-length or longer and has a layered cut. Start with a layered haircut. Gather the following tools and products: a hair dryer, curling iron, bobby pins, comb, hairspray, shine serum, texturizing spray and volumizing spray. Begin by combing freshly-washed, towel-dried hair. Spray a volumizing spray on the roots of your hair, and gently rub it in with your finger tips.
If you want to use a heat protection spray also, apply it now. Use a blow dryer until your hair is completely dry. To add extra volume, start drying at the roots of your hair, and add a blast of cold air to your roots at the end.
Divide your dry hair into sections, and spray each with a texturizing spray before curling 1-inch sections with a curling iron. Use a 1 to 1.5-inch barrel curling iron for best results. Curl each section long enough to get a corkscrew curl. Alternate directions as you work your way around, in order to create a more natural look.
Lightly spray hairspray on each curl, roll it and use bobby pins to secure it close to your head. If you are short on time, skip this step. Keep the curls pinned until they have cooled, then gently separate them with your fingers. Use the cool setting on your hair dryer if you'd like to speed up the process. When you have the desired look, add a bit of shine serum or hairspray to finish off the style.
