Waterless shampoo for humans, or dry shampoo, is a product intended to clean the hair between washings without using water and conventional shampoo. Many types of dry shampoo exist on the market.
These shampoos typically contain starches or other oil-absorbing chemicals and can be applied by sprinkling or spraying onto the hair. Waterless shampoo can also be made at home using a combination of common ingredients such as cornstarch, cornmeal and talcum powder. These powders are patted into the scalp, left to sit for a minute and then brushed out to rid the hair of excess oil. Dry shampooing saves time and may be better for the hair than frequent washing, according to HowStuffWorks.
