To wash cornrows, create a mixture of water and shampoo in a bowl, wear a stocking cap, lightly wet the cap, pat the cap with the shampoo and water mixture, rinse the cap and dry with a towel. Apply your preferred oil for the best result.
- Create a mixture of water and shampoo
In a small bowl, mix in water and your favorite shampoo. Consider using shampoo that is specifically made for your type of hair.
- Wear a stocking cap
Wear a stocking cap, ski cap or beanie. Do not wash the hair directly; this protects the hair from frizzing and keeps your braids in good condition longer.
- Wet the cap
Use a portable shower head to lightly wet the cap. Use a soft stream of water for this step so as not to soak your hair.
- Pat the cap with water-and-shampoo mixture
Rub the water-and-shampoo mixture in your hands to create foam, and pat evenly on the cap. Gently massage the foam on the cap and leave it for a few minutes.
- Rinse and dry the cap
Set the portable shower head to a light stream and rinse the cap. Be sure to remove all the product. Pat dry with a clean towel, remove the cap and pat the hair directly to remove as much water as possible.
- Apply oil
Apply your favorite oil, preferably one which is designed for your specific type of hair.
