When used in addition to regular face washing and moisturizing, Vaseline can be good for a person's face. Unlike some oils and heavier moisturizers, it is noncomedogenic, which means it won't clog pores. Vaseline is also an emollient, so it's very effective at soothing dry skin.
Vaseline, a brand name for petroleum jelly, is considered one of the most effective ways to soften skin because it seals in water, which helps skin cells retain moisture. For some years, it was feared that using Vaseline on a face would clog pores, but recent research has shown that fear is false. Two groups of 10 acne patients were given petroleum jelly to put on their faces twice a day for eight weeks. At the end of the experiment, both groups actually showed significant reduction in their acne.
