Some useful tea tree oil recipes include deodorant, dandruff treatment, salves and a carpet refresher. To make a deodorant, mix 1/3 cup of baking soda, 1/2 cup of cornstarch, 5 tablespoons of melted coconut oil and 15 drops of tea tree oil together and store in an airtight container. You can also improve unscented roll-on deodorant by adding a drop or two before applying.
To assist in cleaning up dandruff, add one or two drops of tea tree oil to a mild shampoo. For a dandruff treatment, add a few drops of tea tree oil to the same amount of eucalyptus oil. Gently massage this mixture into the scalp and leave it for an hour, shampooing afterwards.
To make a salve, combine 1 cup of olive oil and 1 ounce of beeswax into an 8-ounce mason jar. Place the jar in a pan of water and put over medium heat. Stir this mixture. Once the wax melts, add 1 tablespoon of tea tree oil and stir again. When the salve cools, it is ready to be used.
Tea tree oil is a natural antimicrobial and anti-fungal agent. Freshen carpets by sprinkling baking soda and about 20 drops of tea tree oil on them. Leave this for 15 minutes and then vacuum.
