To use tea tree oil in the treatment of acne, apply tea tree oil directly to the skin, add it to your existing products or mix it with other ingredients to create a mask or scrub. Only 100 percent tea tree oil should be used.
- Wash and dry your face
Add a few drops of 100 percent tea tree oil to your regular cleanser. Wash your face with the cleanser and gently pat dry.
- Apply a tea tree oil facial mask
Mix 1/4 cup of plain yogurt with five drops of tea tree oil. Avoiding the eye area, dab the mask on your face. Allow the mixture to sit on your skin for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse the mask from your face and dry.
- Add tea tree oil to the moisturizer and apply it
Add a couple of drops of tea tree oil to your regular moisturizer and use daily.
- Use tea tree oil as a spot treatment
Apply a few drops of tea tree oil to a cotton ball or Q-tip. Dab the oil on pimples and allow it to sit overnight. Another spot treatment option is to mix aloe vera gel or honey with a few drops of tea tree oil and to use the mixture directly on pimples.
