Neiman Marcus sells high-end women's and men's apparel, accessories, jewelry and beauty products. Featured clothing designers include Prada, Chloe, Givenchy and Burberry. The store also sells housewares such as bedding, fine china and decor items by the featured designers Michael Aram, MacKenzie-Childs and Jay Strongwater.
Other typical products sold in Neiman Marcus include luxury handbags by designers such as Fendi, Valentino and Saint Laurent; designer shoes by Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin; and fine jewelry by David Yurman, Alexis Bittar and Ippolita.
In addition to its luxury department store merchandise, Neiman Marcus is also known for its over-the-top Christmas catalog featuring grandiose fantasy gifts. For example, the 2014 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book featured a limited edition Maserati, a trip to Germany to custom-make a locket alongside the jewelry designer, a VIP Academy Awards experience and a trip to Paris to design a personalized fragrance.
Founded by Herbert Marcus, Carrie Marcus Neiman and A.L. Neiman, Neiman Marcus first opened its doors on Sept. 10, 1907, at the corner of Elm and Murphy Streets in downtown Dallas, Texas. However, this location was destroyed by fire in 1913, prompting the owners to move the store to the corner of Main and Ervay Streets. As of 2015, this location remains the brand's flagship store.
