When applying eye make-up, first make sure that your skin is clear and free of any oil or previously worn make-up. Avoid using any lotions or creams, as they may cause your make-up to run. Also, be sure to prepare your skin with your favorite primer to lengthen the amount of time that your eye shadow stays in place. Apply the primer from the eyelid up to the brow bone.
To give your eyes more depth, use gold and bronze cream shadows. To soften the lines of the cream shadow, apply a translucent power or matching eye shadow powder. For more control and better blending, use a flat shadow brush to apply shadow to the eye creases. To make your eyes even more dramatic, apply brown eyeliner to your upper lashes, and smudge upward with your shadow brush. Finish the look with two coats of mascara. For an even more dramatic look, use an eyelash curler before applying mascara.
For a gradient eye shadow effect, first prepare eyes with primer. Use a light colored shadow, and apply to inner corner of the eye blending into the middle of the lid. Then apply a medium shade to the middle of the lid, and blend into the upper direction toward the eyebrow arch. Next, apply the darker shade to the outer corner of the eye, and blend towards the arch of the brow. Follow up with a dark eyeliner and mascara.
