Creating the perfect ombre hairstyle involves applying a lightening treatment to the ends of the hair. You need 20-volume peroxide, powdered bleach, a toothbrush, a mixing bowl and disposable gloves. Finish with a sulfate-free shampoo and a good leave-in conditioner. The process should take approximately 30 to 40 minutes.
- Prepare the hair dye
Mix one packet of powdered bleach with two ounces of 20-volume peroxide. Stir the mixture until blended.
- Prepare the hair
Part your hair into two sections. The part does not have to be even.
- Apply the bleach
Put on a pair of disposable gloves. Use a toothbrush to spread bleach onto the ends of your hair. Start at the bottom of each section, and brush the bleach onto the hair using downward strokes. Make sure that the bleach is evenly applied to each side.
- Let the bleach sit
Once the bleach has been applied, leave it on your hair for 10 to 20 minutes. The longer it is left on the hair, the lighter the strands will become.
- Wash and condition your hair
Thoroughly wash the bleach out of your hair with a sulphate-free shampoo. Then, apply a leave-in conditioner. Be sure to use plenty of conditioner on the ends.
