To style short, curly hair, prepare the hair by using moisturizing products and deep conditioning at least once a week. Use a silicone-based hair serum, blow the hair dry with a round brush, and iron the bangs flat. Complete the look with hair jewelry.
- Prepare the hair
Naturally curly hair sometimes feels dry, so use moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. At least once a week, use a deep conditioner. Massage the conditioner or hair oil into your hair, leaving it in for a minimum of five minutes before rinsing it out.
- Use a silicone-based hair serum
Humidity re-activates natural curls. Silicone-based hair products repel the air's humidity. Before blow drying the hair, apply a small amount of a silicone hair serum. Use the serum even if you go natural as it minimizes frizz.
- Blow dry the hair
Use the largest round brush that fits in your hair. Starting from the nape of the neck, blow the hair dry while rolling the round brush in the sections. Aim the nozzle down in the direction the hair grows to minimize frizz. Repeat this procedure all over the head. Avoid using a paddle brush as this creates stick-straight hair.
- Iron out the bangs
Use a ceramic flat iron to swoop the bangs to the side. Spray in place.
- Use hair jewelry
To compliment a short hair style, clip hair jewelry near the bangs or on the sides. Alternatively, put on a decorative headband.
