One way to style a fancy updo is to put your hair in a ponytail, separate the tail into four sections, wind the sections around each other, and pin them in place. This hairstyle takes about 30 minutes and requires a hairbrush, hair elastics, bobby pins, jeweled pins and strong hairspray.
- Prepare your hair
Brush your hair. Gather it into a high ponytail, and secure it with an elastic hair band.
- Divide the ponytail into sections
Divide the ponytail into four sections, and wrap a hair elastic near the tip of each section.
- Wrap and pin the sections
Remove the elastic from one of the hair sections, and wrap it around the others. Pin it in place as you go, twisting and looping it to create volume and texture. When all of the first section is securely pinned, remove the elastic from another section. Twist, wrap and pin it as you did with the first section. Repeat this procedure until all of your hair is pinned.
- Insert jeweled pins
Insert jeweled pins in and around the mound of hair.
- Apply hairspray
Apply a copious amount of firm-hold hairspray over your entire head. Run your palms over the sides and top of your head to eliminate flyaways and frizz.
