How Do You Stretch Natural Hair?

To stretch natural hair, shampoo and condition it, apply a heat protectant spray, separate the hair into sections, blow dry the sections, and apply coconut oil. This 90-minute process requires moisturizing shampoo, conditioner, a towel, heat protectant, hair clips, a comb, coconut oil, a blow dryer and a concentrator nozzle.

  1. Prepare the hair

Shampoo and condition the hair with moisturizing products. Rinse your hair with cool water, squeeze it dry with a towel, and spray it liberally with heat protectant spray.

  2. Section the hair

Comb your hair, and separate it into six equal sections. Put a clip on each section.

  3. Blow dry the sections

Attach a concentrator nozzle to your blow dryer. Unclip a section of hair near the nape of the neck, pull the hair taut, and blow dry it on the medium heat setting. If your blow dryer has an airflow speed setting, select the highest option. Move the blow dryer along the length of the hair, with the air stream flowing in the direction of hair growth. Stretch and dry the remaining hair with the same technique.

  4. Moisturize with coconut oil

Rub a small amount of coconut oil between your hands, and then run it over your hair. Apply extra oil to the tips.
