Stretch marks do fade and become lighter over time. These lines show up when skin stretches, and they are typically due to excess weight, adolescence or pregnancy. Stretch marks most commonly appear on stomach, breasts, buttocks, thighs and hips.
It is possible to lessen their appearance of stretch marks while they fade. Any kind of moisturizer that is rubbed into the skin helps skin look smoother and more elastic. This makes stretch marks less noticeable. Exercise also works. A toned body camouflages stretch marks better than flabby skin. A fake tan also makes it easier to hid marks. For best results and to avoid streaks, the skin should be exfoliated before a thin, even layer of tanning cream is applied.
