Stretching ear lobes is a slow process that involves gradually expanding a piercing by wearing progressively larger earrings over time. This process can take years.
When stretching an ear piercing, stretch the hole no more than one gauge at a time. Most original ear piercings are done with an 18 gauge, or 1 millimeter, needle. Use jewelry that is smooth and non-porous, such as those made from steel, glass or Pyrex. Keep the hole moisturized with a natural and fragrance-free oil such as jojoba or emu oil. Wait at least a month before sizing up to the next gauge. Be patient and don't stretch too quickly, as this increases your risk of keloids and blowouts.
