To straighten your hair perfectly, wash and condition it, towel-dry it, apply straightening balm, blow dry the hair, flat iron it, and apply smoothing serum. This one-hour process requires shampoo, conditioner, a towel, straightening balm, a blow dryer, a round brush, hair clips, a flat iron and smoothing serum.
- Wash and condition the hair
Shampoo and condition the hair with gentle, moisturizing products. Rinse your hair with cool water, wring out excess moisture, and wrap your hair in a towel. Squeeze the towel to hasten water absorption. Keep the towel on your hair until it is moderately damp, then remove it.
- Apply straightening balm
Apply straightening balm, and brush it through your hair.
- Blow dry the hair
Blow dry the hair in 2-inch sections. Hold the dryer above the head so the air stream flows from the roots to the tips. Lift each section with a round brush as you dry it.
- Flat iron the hair
Preheat the flat iron. Gather the top half of the hair in your hands, pile it on the crown of the head, and secure it with a clip. Separate a 2-inch section of the remaining hair, pull it tight, clamp the flat iron near the roots, and pull it down the length of the hair. Straighten the same section a second time, and repeat with the rest of the hair. When you finish straightening the lower half of the hair, unfasten and straighten the top section with the same technique.
- Apply smoothing serum
Rub smoothing serum between your hands, and rake it through the hair with your fingers.
