Dermatologists recommend that people take showers either every other day or twice in three days. However, if a person has a very active lifestyle, daily showers may be beneficial.
Showering infrequently causes a decline in personal hygiene. However, showering too often can make a person's skin too dry. Also, showering too often can remove certain oils and dead skin cells that protect a person's skin from bacteria and other chemicals.
Daily showers are recommended for people who go to the gym or do physically demanding work daily. People who commute by subway or another crowded form of public transport should also shower daily because of a higher exposure to bacteria.
