Grow dreadlocks by letting your hair grow out for three months and then twisting the hair around a comb. Clip the twisted hair into place, and blow dry the hair. Take out the clips, and apply oil.
- Gather the materials
Once your hair has had three months to grow out, gather a comb, a blow dryer, hair clips, hair oil and a paper hair wrap. Select a styling product such as beeswax or shea butter.
- Twist the hair with a treated comb
Rub the beeswax or shea butter onto the teeth of your comb. Bring the comb to your scalp so it touches the roots of your hair. Wrap the hair around the comb, and twist the comb to the right. Turn the hair in one complete circle, and clip the hair to form the first dreadlock. Repeat this process for the rest of the hair.
- Dry the dreadlocks
Wrap a paper hair wrap around your brow, and tie it at the back of the neck to protect the hair. Blow dry your hair for 30 minutes so the styling product absorbs into the hair. Remove the hair clips, and rub hair oil though the dreadlocks. Maintain the style by redoing the dreadlocks every three weeks.
