What's the Legal Age for Lip Piercings?

The legal age for piercing in the United States varies from state to state; in many states, it's illegal for a minor to get a piercing, while others require a parent’s consent. The technician cannot perform piercings on minors if it is not done within regulation.

Several states have no age limit on piercings, including Alaska, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Montana Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, New Mexico, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin. In Arizona, a parent must be present for a piercing to be given. In California, a parent must either be present or send notarized consent.
