What's Hibiclens Scrub Used For?

Medical personnel use Hibiclens antibacterial scrub to clean wounds and disinfect the skin before surgery. Another use of Hibiclens is as a sanitizing hand scrub.

Hibiclens contains 4-percent chlorhexidine gluconate and isopropyl alcohol to protect skin against germs for up to six hours. Hibiclens is suitable for use anywhere on the body except for the head, face, meninges and genitals. Hibiclens is not suitable for patients who are allergic to chlorhexidine gluconate and isopropyl alcohol or on wounds that involve deep layers of skin. If contact occurs, users should rinse the affected area with cold water, and consult a doctor if irritation or swelling develops and lasts more than 72 hours after using Hibiclens.
