To get rid of undereye circles, sleep with two pillows, apply a cold compress, and lighten the skin with natural ingredients. Select the appropriate eye cream based on the underlying cause, and take a multivitamin.
- Sleep with two pillows
Undereye circles are often the result of blood and other fluid building up under the eyes as you sleep. To prevent that fluid build up, sleep with your head elevated on two pillows.
- Apply a cold compress in the morning
Freeze either an eye mask or tea bags over night. Place them over you eyes, and recline for five minutes. The cold constricts the capillaries that cause the dark circles.
- Select the right eye cream
If the skin directly under the eyes darkens, this is usually the sign of vascular issues causing the problem. Select an undereye cream that contains caffeine, which constricts the blood vessels. If the skin from the corner of the eye and down the nose appears dark, this indicates thin skin. Choose an eye cream with collagen builders and vitamin C. Collagen makes skin thicker, and vitamin C brightens the area.
- Lighten the skin naturally
Use almond oil or cucumber to lighten the skin. Apply a drop of almond oil over the dark skin, and massage before bed. Wash off in the morning. Chill cucumbers in the refrigerator overnight, and place over the eyes for 10 minutes.
- Take a multivitamin
Undereye circles are sometimes caused by vitamin deficiency. Take a multivitamin that contains vitamins B6 and B12 as well as folic acid.
