To eliminate redness from your face, treat your skin from the inside out with a diet that reduces inflammation, and apply a colloidal oatmeal mask at least a few times weekly. Avoid common skin irritants that can contribute to facial redness.
- Eat an anti-inflammatory diet
Treating your skin with topical remedies is not enough. Healthy skin starts from the inside with the foods and drinks you consume. Eat cooling foods, such as celery, melons, coconut, peaches and spinach. It’s also important to consume omega-3 and probiotics to keep the skin healthy and prevent redness. Drink anti-redness teas, such as green tea, chamomile and peppermint tea.
- Apply colloidal oatmeal to your skin
Colloidal oatmeal has a soothing effect on the skin and reduces redness. Mix 100-percent-pure colloidal oatmeal with just enough water to make a mask, and apply it evenly to your face. Leave it on for at least 10 minutes, then rinse it off. Use the colloidal oatmeal mask up to four times per week to reduce redness.
- Avoid skin irritants
In addition to eating an anti-inflammatory diet and using colloidal oatmeal masks, it’s important to avoid common irritants that contribute to red skin. Perfumed soaps, oily facial creams and some sunscreens can cause redness. Read the ingredient list on all products, and opt for natural skin-care products with fewer ingredients.
