Get rid of puffy eyelids by drinking a lot of water, placing tea bags, cucumbers and potatoes under the eyes, and applying cool compresses. It may take a few days or a couple of weeks to see results.
- Drink a lot of water
Drink enough water to prevent dehydration. When the body is properly hydrated, it doesn't store water. Stored water often accumulates under the eyes, resulting in puffiness.
- Place cooled tea bags over the eyes
Steep tea bags, and place the cooled bags over your eyes. Herbal tea bags can calm irritation and reduce redness, and caffeinated tea bags help constrict blood vessels and decrease swelling.
- Place cucumbers over the eyes
Cucumbers contain astringents, which help to constrict blood vessels. Cucumbers are also cool and soothing to the eyes, which relieves puffiness.
- Place sliced, raw potatoes over the eyes
The starch in potatoes acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. Potatoes placed over the eyes help to decrease irritation that causes and contributes to puffiness.
- Apply cold compresses
Place cool, damp towels or packs of frozen vegetables over your eyes to decrease swelling and puffiness. Placing cold teaspoons over your eyes can also reduce puffiness, making this a good option if a compress is not available.
