To get rid of oily skin, wash it with a mild cleanser, apply toner, apply an oil-free moisturizer, and use blotting papers for touch-ups throughout the day. This 10-minute regimen requires water, a mild cleanser, a washcloth, cotton balls, an astringent toner, a towel, moisturizer and blotting papers.
- Cleanse the skin
Cleanse the skin with warm water and a mild cleanser that contains glycolic acid, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Rub the cleanser into the skin with a washcloth for extra exfoliation. Rinse thoroughly, and pat the skin dry with a towel.
- Wipe the skin with an astringent toner
Saturate a cotton ball with an astringent toner, and wipe it over the oily areas. Do not apply toner to dry, irritated or broken skin, and keep it away from the eyes.
- Apply oil-free moisturizer
Wash your hands, and apply a small amount of oil-free moisturizer. Give the product time to absorb, then apply additional moisturizer to areas of skin that feel dry or tight.
- Remove excess oil with blotting papers
Absorb oil throughout the day by pressing blotting papers over the shiny areas. Use one paper at a time. Set the paper over the oil, smooth it flat against the skin, hold it there for 20 seconds, then peel it away.
