To get rid of greasy hair, wash and condition it with oil-balancing products, rinse it in cool water, apply hair powder, and use dry shampoo to control oily outbreaks during the day. This 30-minute process requires shampoo, conditioner, water, a towel, hair powder, a comb and dry shampoo.
- Wash and condition the hair
Wash your hair with a moisture-balancing shampoo. Thoroughly massage the shampoo into your scalp and roots, and then rinse with cold water for 30 seconds. Apply conditioner. Wait three minutes, and rinse again.
- Dry the hair
Wring out your hair, and wrap it in a towel. Squeeze the towel to extract moisture. Remove the towel, and gently comb your hair.
- Apply hair powder
Dust the scalp and roots with hair powder, and then massage it in with your fingertips. Comb the powder through your hair.
- Control outbreaks with dry shampoo
Stop sudden greasy outbreaks with a travel-size can of dry shampoo. Hold the can 8 inches from the scalp, and apply the shampoo in quick bursts. Give the product two or three minutes to absorb the excess oil, and then comb your hair until the shampoo residue recedes. This process is especially important for darker hair colors.
