How Do You Remove Mascara?

To remove waterproof mascara, apply an oil-based makeup remover, almond oil or olive oil to a cotton makeup pad. Close your eyes, place the cotton pad underneath your eyelashes and hold your lashes on the cotton pad for 10 to 20 seconds. Wash the mascara off with a gentle facial cleanser.

  1. Apply the oil to a cotton makeup pad

Soak a cotton pad with an oil-based makeup remover, olive oil or almond oil. Close your eyes, and place the cotton pad underneath your eyelashes. Do not use baby oil or anything that contains petroleum to remove eye makeup because these products are eye irritants.

  2. Hold your eyelashes on the cotton pad

Press the cotton pad gently against your eyelashes, and hold your eyelashes in place for 10 to 20 seconds to allow the oil to break up the mascara. Remove the cotton makeup pad, and use it to gently wipe both sides of the eyelashes until the mascara comes off. Repeat the process for the other eye.

  3. Remove the mascara and oil with a gentle cleanser

Wash your face with a gentle facial cleanser, and massage your eyelashes and eyelids. Rinse your face with cool water to remove any remnants of mascara and oil.
