Because henna tattoos are temporary, they do fade over time as the skin exfoliates naturally. Sometimes, however, people want to remove their henna tattoos more quickly. These tips help to fade henna tattoos, but some steps may need to be repeated to make the tattoo disappear completely.
- Soak in salt water
Soak the skin in salt water for at least 15 minutes. The abrasive quality of the salt helps to remove some of the henna ink.
- Apply bleaching cream
Apply bleaching cream, the type generally used on the face, to the henna tattoo. Let it dry completely, then rinse it off with clean water immediately. Soak the skin in cold water right after this to remove more of the henna.
- Apply rough skin remover cream
Use cream designed to remove rough skin on the henna tattoo to facilitate the exfoliation process. Do not apply the rough skin remover more than once, as the chemicals can damage the skin if overused.
- Make a baking soda and lemon juice paste
Combine baking soda and lemon juice to make a thick paste. Apply the paste to the henna tattoo. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes. Use a loofah to remove the paste and exfoliate the skin. Rinse under warm water, then repeat the process. Apply moisturizer to replenish the moisture lost during this process.
