How Do You Remove Henna From the Hair?

Bright, permanent henna hair dye is notoriously difficult to remove. Several popular henna hair dye removal methods rely on harsh substances that weaken hair, but this technique uses only safe, natural ingredients. It requires argan oil, olive oil, coconut oil, a clean towel and shampoo. Most people need several consecutive overnight treatments.

  1. Combine the oils

Pour equal amounts of each oil into a large bowl. You need enough of this mixture to saturate all of your hair.

  2. Coat your hair with the oil mixture

Apply the oil mixture to your hair until every strand is saturated. Rub the mixture into your scalp and work it down to the tips of your hair.

  3. Saturate your hair overnight

Keep the oil in your hair overnight. Place a towel over your pillow to avoid oil stains.

  4. Apply shampoo before showering

On the following morning, apply undiluted shampoo to your hair and massage it in. Ensure that every hair is sheathed in shampoo.

  5. Rinse and shampoo again

Rinse your hair until no shampoo remains, then apply more shampoo to your soaking strands. Rinse with warm water.

  6. Dry your hair, and inspect the color

Dry your hair, and note its color change. Repeat this process daily until the henna is completely gone.
