To remove hairspray from hair, comb a mixture of baking soda and shampoo through the hair and rinse it out. Use a deep-cleansing or clarifying shampoo. If this mixture doesn't remove all the hairspray, you can use conditioner to remove the rest.
- Prepare the mixture
Pour 2 tablespoons of shampoo into a bowl and add 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Mix the two ingredients together with a spoon until a smooth liquid forms.
- Place the mixture in the hair
Scoop some of the baking soda and shampoo mixture onto a wide-toothed comb. Comb the mixture through the hair. Continue this process until the mixture is all through the hair. Allow the mixture to remain on the hair for 15 minutes in order to give the baking soda time to break down the hairspray build up.
- Shampoo the hair
Rinse the baking soda and shampoo mixture from the hair. After it is rinsed out, shampoo the hair to ensure that all of the baking soda has been removed from the hair. You may need to shampoo twice. If hairspray remains, use a conditioner on the hair. Normally, conditioner removes the remaining hairspray. Conditioners, especially light cream conditioners, work well to remove styling products from the hair.
