To remove acne, wash your face with an oil-free face wash that contains salicylic acid. Medicate pimples with benzoyl peroxide, and eliminate redness and swelling with hydrocortisone cream.
- Use an oil-free face wash
The first step to removing acne is washing your face with the right cleanser. Acne occurs when oil and bacteria accumulate in the pores. Wash with an oil-free face wash to avoid adding more oil to your face. Face cleansers that contain salicylic acid are the most effective, as salicylic acid acts as an antibacterial and exfoliates the skin to remove dead skin cells that contribute to bacterial growth.
- Apply benzoyl peroxide
After cleansing your face, treat pimples with benzoyl peroxide. The peroxide is an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic that shrinks pimples and quickly heals breakouts. Do not use benzoyl peroxide for more than a week at a time.
- Eliminate redness with hydrocortisone cream
Redness and inflammation frequently occur with acne breakouts. To eliminate redness and swelling, apply hydrocortisone cream to the affected area. For the most significant results, massage the cream onto your face after using the benzoyl peroxide. As an alternative to the hydrocortisone cream, press an ice pack on the inflamed area to shrink pimples.
