Some recipes for skin care products using essential oils include an antioxidant serum containing apricot kernel, carrot seed and rose hip seed oils, and a firming serum using sweet almond, frankincense and cypress oils. Other good essential oils to include in skin care products are rosemary and neroli.

One recipe for a firming, anti-aging facial serum using essential oils calls for 2 tablespoons each of rosehip seed and sweet almond oils, 10 drops each of cypress and geranium oils, and 7 drops of frankincense oil. Use once in the morning and once at night to firm skin and even out tone.

To make another anti-aging facial serum using essential oils, combine 1/2 cup of apricot kernel oil with 20-25 drops each of carrot seed and rosehip seed oils. The oils in this recipe contain antioxidants, which are good for maintaining a youthful complexion.

Rosehip seed oil is one of the best essential oils to use for skin care due to its high concentration of vitamin A, also known as all-trans retinoic acid. This compound, often abbreviated as ATRA, provides many benefits to the skin, including reducing wrinkles, fading age spots and increasing collagen production below the surface. Rosehip seed oil is also rich in omega-6 linoleic acid and omega-3 linolenic acid, essential fatty acids that nourish skin while improving its texture and elasticity.
