A recipe for whipped body butter requires 1/2 cup shea butter, 1/2 cup cocoa or mango butter, 1/2 cup coconut oil, 1/2 cup almond or jojoba oil and 10 to 30 drops of an essential oil. Combine all ingredients except the essential oil in a double boiler or a bowl.
Heat the combined ingredients at medium heat and stir them consistently until they have melted. Once they have melted, allow the butter to cool slightly before placing it in the refrigerator to chill for an hour, allowing the consistency to remain a little soft. After an hour, whip the butter and essential oils for 10 minutes using a hand mixer. The body butter should begin to become fluffy, and it should resemble a small cloud. Afterward, return the whipped body butter to the refrigerator to chill for 10 to 15 minutes.
Once the whipped body butter sets, store it in glass jars that have lids. Keep the jars of whipped body butter in a location that is 75 degrees Fahrenheit or cooler. Because the butter is whipped, it is smooth and less oily. The ingredients are safe for babies and for people with sensitive skin. Combine essential oils or use them independently for varied scents, such as citrus and lavender or peppermint.
