Germany has a substantial and diverse fashion scene, so much of the attire worn there is the same as attire worn in the United States, including jeans, dresses, shirts and skirts. Many designers from Germany, including Karl Lagerfeld and Jil Sander, are popular in the U.S. Traditional attire in Germany can also be found in Bavaria, where women will sometimes wear dirndls and men wear lederhosen.
Dirndls consist of a blouse, skirt, bodice and apron, while lederhosen are leather trousers worn with a collared shirt, usually checkered. They are now worn primarily for special events or traditional festivals rather than on a day-to-day basis.
