Clothing can no longer be ordered from the Fashion Bug catalog, as of 2015. The parent company of Fashion Bug, Charming Shoppes, was purchased by Ascena Retail Group, who subsequently decided to discontinue the Fashion Bug brand.
Fashion Bug was comprised of both a mail-order catalog and an eCommerce catalog, in which plus-sized women's clothing could be purchased by phone or through mail order. There were also strip mall retail stores. All sales avenues carrying the Fashion Bug brand were discontinued in 2013. Charming Shoppes was acquired by Ascena Retail Group in 2012. The new management made the choice to discontinue the brand shortly after. This decision was partly based on Fashion Bug's less trendy clothing options when compared to rival stores serving the plus sized market.
Ascena Retail Group owns similar retailers, such as Lane Bryant, Catherine's Plus Size and Dress Barn. These outlets cater to a similar market as the former Fashion Bug catalog and retail stores. Each of these brands offers shopping through on-site retail stores and eCommerce websites. The Catherine's website often features exclusive sales for online shoppers. Catherine's also offers the option of ordering by phone.
Fashion Bug clothing may still be purchased second-hand through various websites or classifieds.
