The first FFA jacket was not made by a single man but by an FFA chapter in Fredericktown, Ohio. The jacket was designed in 1933.
The FFA chapter band was going to perform in the National FFA Convention that was held in Kansas City but wanted something in addition to their standard uniform. The group got together and came up with the jacket design and material. As of 2014, the jacket is still worn by FFA members.
The jacket is highly anticipated by members of the FFA. When members receive the FFA jacket, it is a moment of pride and honor and a symbol of unity among members, according to FFA New Horizons.
