Micro-ring extensions are small, metal rings that hold synthetic extensions to natural hair. To install them, a small amount of natural hair is threaded through the ring along with a small amount of synthetic hair. Micro-ring extensions may be metal or have a layer of silicon on the inside.
Micro-ring extensions with silicon may grip the natural hair better, allowing for longer wear. The synthetic hair should be glued together at the ends to help thread it through the ring and keep strands from falling out. Once the hair is threaded through, the ring is clamped with pliers. To remove the extensions, the ring has to be clamped on the opposite sides to open it and slide it off of the natural hair.
