Materials that are useful for shoe repair include adhesives and bonding, reinforcement materials, soles and heels, various thread types and metal fasteners. In addition to these materials, finishes such as shoe and leather dyes, inks and waxes are also useful to return shoes to like-new condition.
Adhesives and bonding materials include both glues and tapes. Reinforcement materials such as cellulose board, stiffening material and shanks reinforce insteps, heels, toes and shoe bottoms. Soles and heels come in a variety of materials and sizes. Thread types include cotton, linen, nylon, barbour thread cord and serafil, and come in twisted and waxed varieties. Metal fasteners include screws, rivets and stems.
