To make straight hair wavy, apply a volume-enhancing mousse to the hair to dampen it, flip the hair so the underside is out, and blow dry the hair with a diffuser. Divide your hair into sections, and style it using a round brush and blow dryer. Complete the look with a finishing spray or taming wax.
- Apply a volume-enhancing cream
Start by washing your hair as usual. Pat hair dry with a towel, and apply a volume-enhancing or thickening mousse to your hair.
- Dry your hair with a diffuser
Flip your head down so the underside of your hair is facing out. Blow dry your hair until it is 85 percent dry. Use a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment.
- Divide your hair into sections, and style
Wrap 1-inch sections of hair around a round brush. Blow dry the hair, then roll the brush away from your face to release the hair. Next, use a curling iron to curl the sections of hair. Curl the hair from the mid-shaft to the ends. Run your fingers through the hair to break up the sections. Apply mousse to each section, and twist the hair into small buns. Secure the hair with a bobby pin or barrette. Dry each bun with a hair dryer until they are completely dry. Remove the buns, and use your fingers to rub styling wax through the hair to tame frizz the hair and maintain the waves.
