There are many recipes for homemade sodium-free shampoo, and one of the easiest is a mixture of liquid castile soap, coconut milk, coconut oil and tea tree essential oil. The other required supplies are a squeeze bottle, a measuring cup, hot water, measuring spoons, a funnel and a lidded jar. It takes about 3 minutes to make this shampoo.
- Add the ingredients to the jar
Pour 1 cup coconut milk into the jar, then add 4 tablespoons room-temperature coconut oil, 30 drops tea tree oil and 1 1/3 cup liquid castile soap.
- Blend the shampoo
Seal the jar, and shake it energetically for about 20 seconds.
- Prepare the squeeze bottle
Remove the cap from a squeeze bottle. Rinse the bottle and the cap with hot water, and set the cap aside. Insert the funnel into the bottle.
- Pour the shampoo into the squeeze bottle
Open the jar, and pour the contents down the funnel. Do this in a brightly lit area so you can monitor the level of shampoo in the bottle. Stop pouring when the shampoo reaches the neck of the bottle. Remove the funnel, and cap the bottle.
- Store the shampoo
Store this preservative-free shampoo in the refrigerator, and use it within two weeks.
