To make your skin soft, take a lukewarm shower, wash with a moisturizing cleanser, use a natural scrub for rough areas, apply oil to the skin with a washcloth, and add cream to any areas that are still rough. Repeat this procedure daily for best results.
- Take a lukewarm shower
Avoid using hot water because it draws moisture out of the skin. Clean with a moisturizing cleanser. Use a natural salt or sugar scrub on rough areas, such as the elbows, knees and heels.
- Pat your skin dry
Pat your skin dry all over with a soft, absorbent towel. Do not rub the skin. Leave the skin slightly damp.
- Apply oil with a damp washcloth
Wet a washcloth in lukewarm water, and wring it out well. Apply a small amount of oil, such as extra virgin coconut oil, sesame oil or baby oil, to the washcloth. Rub the oil gently in small circles all over your skin, starting with the face and working your way down. Add extra oil to the cloth as necessary.
- Blot your skin
Blot your skin with a clean towel to remove any excess oil.
- Apply a cream to dry and rough areas
Rub shea butter, a commercial cream moisturizer or body butter onto any areas of the skin that are still rough. Work the cream in with your fingers until the skin feels smooth.
