One way to make lipstick is to melt beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil, add beet powder, and pour the mixture into a lip balm tube. This 15-minute procedure requires beeswax pastilles, shea butter, coconut oil, beet powder, a glass jar, a pot, a stove, water, a toothpick, a glass dropper and a lip balm tube.
- Melt the oils
Pour 2 inches of water into a cooking pot, and place it on a stove over high heat. Pour 1 teaspoon beeswax pastilles, 1 teaspoon shea butter and 1 teaspoon coconut oil into a glass jar. Set the jar in the hot water, and stir the oils until they melt.
- Add beet powder
Turn off the stove, and take the pot off of the burner. Leave the jar in the hot water. Pour 1/8 teaspoon beet root powder into the jar, and stir it into the melted oils with a toothpick. Stir the mixture until no pigment streaks remain.
- Pack the lipstick into a tube
Pinch the bulb of a glass medicine dropper, and stick the tip into the liquid lipstick. Release the bulb to draw the lipstick into the dropper, insert the tip into an empty lip balm tube, and squeeze the lipstick into the container. Repeat until the tube is almost full, then prop it upright until the lipstick cools and solidifies.
