Honey can be used on its own as a face mask, but one of the most commonly used face masks is made by mixing honey and powdered cinnamon. Cinnamon enhances the beneficial properties of honey, and the combination is used to treat acne and improve the skin's overall appearance.
- Gather the needed ingredients
Facial skin is delicate, so use natural, chemical-free ingredients. To achieve the desired results, choose organic powdered cinnamon and raw, unpasteurized honey. Pasteurized honey has the beneficial enzymes and antibacterial properties removed, so it is not the best choice.
- Make a paste
Place 3 to 4 tablespoons of powdered cinnamon into a bowl. Slowly add the honey, and stir until a paste forms. Once a paste has formed, stop adding honey. This keeps the mixture from becoming too thin and dripping from the face.
- Apply the mixture to a clean face
After cleaning the face, use your fingers to apply the paste. Gently rub your fingers in a circular motion to evenly distribute the paste. Apply the paste before bed, and allow it to dry. Leave the paste on all night, and wash it off with warm water in the morning.
- Store the paste
To maintain freshness, store the paste at room temperature in a closed container. Wear the mask every night, and mix up a new batch as needed.
