A quick way to make homemade liquid eyeliner is to combine coconut oil and activated charcoal in an eyeliner pot. This five-minute project requires an empty cosmetic pot, mild hand soap, paper towels, activated charcoal, latex gloves, a microwave, a measuring spoon, coconut oil, a toothpick and an angled eyeliner brush.
- Clean the eyeliner pot
Wash the empty eyeliner pot with mild soap and warm water. Dry it with a paper towel.
- Prepare the coconut oil
If the coconut oil needs softening, microwave it for several seconds. If the oil is already liquefied, it does not need to be heated.
- Open the charcoal capsule
Put on latex gloves, and spread a paper towel on your work surface. Carefully open a capsule of activated charcoal, and dump the contents into the eyeliner jar. Discard the empty capsule.
- Add the coconut oil
Pour 1 teaspoon liquid coconut oil on top of the charcoal powder. Stir the mixture with a toothpick until the charcoal is evenly distributed, and then discard the toothpick.
- Clean up
Cap the eyeliner tightly. Dampen a paper towel with lukewarm water, and wipe the exterior of the jar. This removes traces of charcoal powder. Store the eyeliner at room temperature, and apply it with an angled cosmetic brush. If the coconut oil solidifies, place the jar in a bowl of hot water for five minutes before you apply the eyeliner.
