Henna tattoos are natural, beautiful and temporary. They are fun for kids and adults alike. Make your own paste for henna tattoos using just henna powder, tea, lemons and eucalyptus oil. You also need a squeeze bottle and cotton swabs for applying the design.
Prepare the powder
Look through the henna powder to make sure it is free of sticks and plant matter. If the powder is coarse, use a kitchen sifter to sift it before making the paste.
Brew the tea
Bring 4 ounces of water to a boil and remove it from the heat. Place a tea bag into the cup and allow it to steep until it is strongly brewed, at least 15 minutes.
Mix the paste
Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a small bowl. Mix the lemon juice and ¼ cup of the henna powder together. Begin adding the tea a little at a time, stirring the paste between each addition. Use between 2 and 3 tablespoons of tea until you reach the desired texture. The texture of the final paste should be slightly more runny than toothpaste.
Let the paste rest
Put the paste into the squeeze bottle and let it sit for at least an hour. This allows the colors in the mixture to steep together for the best quality tattoos.
