How Do You Make a Homemade Hair Color Remover?

There are several ways to make homemade hair dye remover without harsh chemicals. Use this 5-minute method to make a gentle, effective remover with a bowl, vitamin C tablets, a metal spoon and nourishing shampoo. Used in conjunction with a shower cap, hair conditioner and warm water, the paste lifts dye in about 1 hour.

  1. Determine how much remover you need

Consider the length and thickness of your hair. You need enough homemade dye remover to saturate every strand.

  2. Crush the vitamins

Crush several vitamin C tablets with the back of a spoon until there are no large chunks. Sweep the powder into a bowl.

  3. Add shampoo

Squirt shampoo over the vitamin powder, and stir the mixture until it forms a thick, slightly gritty paste. Add more pulverized vitamin C if the paste seems runny.

  4. Apply the paste

Saturate your hair with the paste. Rub it deeper by using your fingers. Massage the entire length of your hair until the shampoo foams. Cover your hair with a plastic shower cap and wait 1 hour.

  5. Rinse and condition your hair

Remove the shower cap and rinse your hair with warm water until the water runs clear. Coat your hair with a thick conditioner, and wait 5 minutes to rinse your hair again.
