Henna ink is easily made at home by mixing dry henna powder with hot strong black coffee and adding some lemon juice and essential oils. You need dry henna powder, two coffee singles, a lemon, eucalyptus oil, clove oil, a bowl and water. It takes 20 minutes to make the paste and two hours to cure it.
- Prepare the ingredients
Make strong coffee by bringing 1 1/2 cups water to a boil. Add two instant coffee singles and boil it down to 3/4 cup. Sift and filter 1 1/4 cups of henna into a fine powder.
- Mix the ingredients
Mix the coffee and henna powder. Add the liquid to the powder gradually, and break up clumps as they form for a smooth consistency that will not clog the applicator. When you have a thick paste, add two tablespoons of fresh pulp-free lemon juice and five drops each of eucalyptus and clove oil and stir well.
- Finish the henna paste and let it cool
The mixture should be thin but not runny. Add more henna powder if it is too runny, and more coffee or water if it is too thick. Let the paste cool and set for two hours before you use it.
